“As a salon owner, the Super Stylist course has given me different ways to explain to my team why numbers and productivity are important and be able to help them understand their results and figure out how to get from point A to point B.
That is so much more effective than me sitting down with reports and trying to help them understand the math!
Instead, the Super Stylist course really simplified everything for us and gave everyone a good understanding of what we were after when it comes to performance and goals.
My team benefited by having a better understanding of why goals are important and how to utilize their time and opportunities for service upgrades which is to everyone's benefit.
But, I think the area that made the most impact for our salon was recommending retail.
As hairdressers, Antony talks about how we often sell everything except hair products. It was very helpful for the team to realize that they don't have to approach everything in such a salesy way. They can do it their own way and still make sure the guests understand what they need which was very helpful for them.
I think across the board, most hairdressers really struggle with selling take-home because of the way that they feel inside, and the Super Stylist course really helps them to be able to separate that.
As an owner, it was really great to be able to work through the course with my team because it helps to put me back in their shoes and understand what they're going through so I can help them because I remember the struggles that I had early on in my career.
When I felt like there were specific areas that we needed to work on I would focus on that course module first, and then as a team we would talk about that area because we were able to pinpoint where our salon was having an issue and what we needed to do to improve.
I think my team are really great at being open to information. But we did have one team member who wasn't as open to the information and working through the course made that really obvious, which I think helped her realize that she wasn't fitting in with the mindset that everyone else on the team had.
The Super Stylist course does a really great job of helping to frame your mindset in the beginning, and talk about where you need to get your headspace to be able to take your career and your income to the next level.
When it came to improved performance, in January my salon team did $33,925 in service sales, and in May we did $53,474 in sales, and we did not add any new team members during that time.
Our guest count in January was 146 then our guest count in May was 187.
But the biggest increase that we’ve seen is the average ticket which went from $249 to $305!
As a salon, that's a great increase of $56 per client, and for all the girls, their average ticket went up! And that's great, because it means that my team have been doing more services per guest.
And that comes from doing inspiring consultations and not being afraid to make recommendations to your client as opposed to walking up and saying, “Hey, do you want to do the same thing today?”
That would probably be the biggest shift I've seen in my team, better consultations and intentionally thinking about the questions that they are asking their guests so that then they can make the best recommendation, regardless of whether the guest says yes or no. I think that my team has all grown and stretched themselves in that way.
The Super Stylist course is really great value, especially the fact that you can add more team members to the course for hardly anything. That’s amazing because it's like a family membership. You know, you buy one big membership and add your team members to it, so it's not expensive.
If you're willing to sit down and commit to your success and help your team commit to that success, you will absolutely see growth by the end of the Super Stylist course.
With my team it was really interesting to see the ‘light bulbs’ go on for some of them, and sometimes even people who own their own salons don't even know this stuff.
It was really interesting to see how my team reacted to the course, because we have someone who's fresh out of school. And then we have people who've been doing it a while, and they are still getting a lot out of it.
As a salon owner. I view doing the course again as being like a shot in the arm, every once in a while you need something to help lift you up and give you something different to think about.
