Millennials get a bad rap!

In case you haven’t noticed I’m not a millennial, I’m a baby boomer.

Depending on what you read ‘Millennials are anyone born between 1982 and 2004 in other words my 4 four children are ‘millennials’ so I’m qualified to have an opinion.

I was reading an article recently that described the millennial generation as “lazy, entitled narcissists,”  “The most high-maintenance workforce in the history of the world” and just generally hateable! Listen, if you tell people that rubbish enough times they start to believe it.

Stereotypes can be dangerous…

Sure some millennials might be like that, but so are some baby boomers or any other generation. Seriously, I get tired of there always being so many negative comments about ‘millennials’.

I’m not just talking about my children but I know plenty of millennials who work harder than I ever did at their age, they are focused, kind, self-motivated, self-disciplined, low maintenance, tolerant, entrepreneurial… I could go on.

We’re in safe hands…

Most of the stereotype labels about millennials do harm to an entire generations self-esteem, and face it they’re the generation that will have to solve the problems and clean up the mess that they are being given by my generation. Whether it’s the shape of this industry or the state of the world environmentally or the political and financial turmoil that the world is in, they are not exactly being handed a perfect situation.

We should be building up this generation not undermining their confidence and self-worth. I believe that what they will do with the world they are inheriting will be nothing short of astounding. Just watch them and try and keep up!

Thank you for watching…
