“Starting something is the best way to finish something!” I read that on a wall the other day!
Sounds simple enough doesn’t it? But most of us are guilty of procrastinating and never getting the things done that we want to achieve.
We all have ‘stuff’ we want to start doing or stop doing, and most of us just need to get started, so stop putting it off whatever ‘it’ is.
Usually, if I’m ‘putting something off’ it’s because it’s a big project and I don’t know where or how to start.
So what I do is brainstorm and list all the steps, all the actions that I would need to do, from who I need to call, to what other resources I might need, who I need to talk to or meet with etc.
Once I’ve done that, I prioritise the list in the order of what things need to be done in… then I make a start. It might be a phone call or to arrange a meeting, or simply to block some time out in my diary. Either way, I’ve made a start and once you’ve started you’ve got momentum and one thing leads to another.
Remember, it’s the first step that’s the hardest so just get started, even just doing a teeny, tiny something today, anything, from wherever you are, is the best way to start something.
Don’t be one of those people who wait for the perfect scenario before you start, the perfect scenario rarely happens and waiting for it paralyzes you from taking action.
Perfection is overrated…
I’m all for doing things to a high standard, but seeking perfection can stop you from ever completing it. In most cases, whatever it is you’re better off to get it out there than waiting for it to be perfect!
Remember, your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow.
Thank you for watching…
